Xyphen IT B.V. operates its own optical transport network between Dutch data centres. We light our leased dark fiber ourselves with our own DWDM equipment and route traffic over routers and switches that we operate ourselves. The services on this page are delivered over this infrastructure — not resold or rented from another carrier.

Ethernet Transport
Point-to-point Ethernet between our PoPs. Transparent Layer 2 transport for your own traffic or for interconnecting sites.
EVPN / VXLAN
Multipoint Layer 2 services over EVPN/VXLAN. One virtual LAN across multiple data centres, scalable and with fast convergence.
Wavelengths
A dedicated 10 or 100 Gbit/s connection between two data centres. Full capacity just for you, not shared with other customers.
IP Transit
AS211588: IP transit with multihoming via NL-IX, SPEED-IX, Frys-IX and ERA-IX. Available at all locations.
Our own infrastructure

What we build and manage ourselves:

  • Dark fiber — between our core locations we lease dark fiber, which we light ourselves. No managed wave from a third party: we put the optics on it ourselves.
  • Our own optical transport — our DWDM equipment is fully under our own management: muxponders, transponders and amplifiers are configured, monitored and maintained by us.
  • Our own network — we route and switch on Arista, Juniper MX and Huawei equipment. EVPN/VXLAN and BGP run entirely on platforms we operate ourselves.
  • Managed by our own NOC — we handle configuration, monitoring, change management and troubleshooting ourselves. That means one point of contact, without another carrier in between.

What a delivered service looks like.

Every service is measured at delivery and monitored continuously afterwards: light levels on the optics, BFD on the path, latency included. This is what our engineers see — and what you simply get told when you ask.

How we work

From request to active service.

  1. Intake
    Location(s), service and capacity — that's all we need. You talk to an engineer right away, not an account manager with a call script.
  2. Proposal
    Usually a same-day proposal that fits your situation — no price-list PDF, but a design that is right.
  3. Cross-connect
    We handle the request with the data centre. This is usually the longest step — which is exactly why we chase it.
  4. Activation
    Once the cross-connect is in, we usually activate the service the same day — monitoring included from minute one.

Expanding or moving later? Same process, same pace.

NOC & incidents

Managed by the people who built it.

  • Continuous monitoring of light levels, BFD sessions and traffic — we usually spot an outage before you notice it
  • Reporting an incident means talking directly to an engineer with access to the equipment — no ticket funnel
  • Planned maintenance is always announced in advance, within an agreed maintenance window
  • Failover is tested, not hoped for: paths switch over automatically across our backbone

No intermediate carrier also means: nobody to point at. If something breaks, we fix it — and you hear exactly what happened.

Frequently asked questions

Is this your own network or resold?

Our own network. We lease dark fiber, but light it ourselves with our own DWDM equipment. Our routers and switches (Arista, Juniper MX, Huawei) are fully under our own management and are configured and monitored by our NOC. We don't resell managed waves or transport services bought from another carrier.

Why aren't all services available in Greenhouse?

We have no fiber of our own in Greenhouse Datacenters GHDC3 (yet). Through cross-connects to two of our core locations we deliver IP transit there; Ethernet/EVPN-VXLAN is planned. Wavelengths require our own optical infrastructure in the building, so we don’t offer those there.

What speeds do you deliver?

Services up to and including 80 Gbit/s are actively available. Handoff at 1GE, 10GE, 25GE, 40GE or 100GE. Wavelengths at 10G or 100G.

How quickly can a service be delivered?

Often within one working day, depending on the cross-connect at the data centre. Once the physical cross-connect is in place, we can usually activate the service the same day.

What is your AS number?

AS211588. We have seven connections to internet exchanges (a mix of 10G and 100G pipes), including NL-IX, SPEED-IX, Frys-IX and ERA-IX. We take transit from Fusix Networks, Eranium, NL-ix and Worldstream.
